How to Make a Guitar Jack-O-Lantern

Making a jack-o-lantern guitar can be relatively easy or relatively hard, depending on the detail included. Regardless, since sharp objects will be necessary, only responsible individuals of the proper age should endeavor on carving a pumpkin. Ask your parents' permission before starting to carve a pumpkin. If you are not of adequate age, you can still draw the design; just don't carve without an adult's help.

Instructions

  1. How to Make a Guitar Jack-O-Lantern

    • 1

Draw your specific guitar design as you imagine it on a piece of paper. Cut the paper in the middle of each side of the paper.

    • 2

Thumbtack the edge of each page to the pumpkin, making the paper stick as close as possible to the curve of the pumpkin. Stick a thumbtack into the outline of the guitar and all areas you want carved out at every centimeter. Remove the paper once the guitar carving is defined through the paper with the thumbtack.

    • 3

Connect the dots of the thumbtack marks with a pencil. Gut the pumpkin with the ladle after it has been opened around the stem of the pumpkin with the knife. Carve the penciled guitar on the pumpkin. Poke the cutout parts into the pumpkin's interior and remove them by hand.

    • 4

Place a candle inside the pumpkin at its base. Light the wick. Insert cloves into the lid of the pumpkin to enhance autumnal fragrances. Replace the lid.

Tips & Warnings

  • Carve a pumpkin on a table of comfortable height with a sheet or newspaper over the table to protects the table underneath and absorb the wet pumpkin innards.
