How to Clean Dried Blood Out of Your Carpet
Stains on any surface are unsightly. It can be especially troublesome when the stain is a dried blood stain on your carpet. There are many ideas on how to remove blood stains from your carpets; these methods use products you probably have around your home. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- OxiClean
- Cup
- Water
- Plastic spoon
- Brush
- Rag
- Baking soda
- Hydrogen peroxide

Pour 1/2 scoop of OxiClean into a small cup or bowl. Use the provided scoop. Add 3/4 cup cold water. Hot water will set the stain making it harder to remove, so make sure the water is cold. Mix the OxiClean and water with a plastic spoon.

Pour enough of the mixture onto the stain to thoroughly wet it. The amount you need will depend on the size of the stain.

Use a scrub brush to rub the mixture into the carpet. This will help break up the stain.

Use a clean, white rag or paper towel to dab the stain and soak up the excess water.

Allow the spot to dry. If there are still remnants of the stain, repeat this whole process a second time.
Baking Soda

Mix two parts baking soda and one part cold water together in a small cup or bowl. The amount of each depends on how big the stain is. Mix them together until you have a paste.

Use your finger to apply the paste to the stain. Use the back of a spoon to rub the paste into the stain.

Allow the paste to sit for four or five minutes.

Add cold water to rinse away the paste; use a wet, clean rag to wipe it away.

Allow the spot to dry. If there are still remnants of the stain, repeat the process.
Hydrogen Peroxide

Pour 5 percent hydrogen peroxide onto the blood stain. Make sure you apply enough to soak the spot.

Allow the peroxide to sit for several minutes. The spot will bubble like peroxide does on a fresh cut.

Use a clean, dry rag to dab the spot.

Check to see if the stain is removed. If not, repeat the process until the stain is gone.

Tips & Warnings
Before using any type of carpet treatment, test an area of the carpet by applying a small amount to a hidden area. Wait five to 10 minutes and check to see if there is any damage to the carpet. If so, do not use that treatment method.
