How to Keep Cologne Fresh
There is likely a cologne to suit every taste and lifestyle. Even if you decide to buy a fragrance, you may not want to use it every day, or even right away. Perhaps the scent is more appropriate for another time of year. Perhaps you want to finish using a cologne you have on hand. Nothing is more disappointing than opening a bottle of fragrance to find that the scent is altered or broken down. You might not be aware that heat and light are major negatives when it comes to storing cologne. Luckily, there are a few steps you can follow to help keep scents fresh. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Buy the spray version of a cologne. The spray bottle does not expose the product to light and air the way a bottle that opens at the top will. If you do buy a bottle that opens, be sure to close it tightly after every use.
-
2
Buy cologne that comes in a dark-glass bottle. Green or other dark-colored glass will protect the product from light better than clear glass.
-
-
3
Store your cologne at room temperature. Too much heat can lead to oxidation or otherwise alter the fragrance.
-
4
Keep the scent in its box. Once again, the box the cologne was sold in can help protect it from the damaging effects of light.
-
5
Store your cologne in a dark place. A closet or drawer may suffice. Because of heat and moisture, the bathroom may be one of the worst storage sites for cologne.
