How to Install Memory on My Acer PC
Upgrading computer RAM yourself can save you a significant amount of money. Local computer shops may charge in the neighborhood of $75 to install the memory. They also may jack up the price on the RAM after they purchase it. If you have an Acer PC, the process is pretty straightforward.

1
Determine the model of computer that you are using. Acer computers normally have a sticker located somewhere on them that details the model number. If you are upgrading the RAM in an Acer Desktop PC, and do not see a sticker, check for a model number printed or engraved on the case. If you are upgrading the RAM in an Acer Laptop PC, try removing the battery to see if there is a model number located in the battery bay.

2
Find and purchase an appropriate RAM replacement for your computer. Your computer will require either DDR, DDR2, or DDR3 RAM. If it is a desktop, it will require larger RAM modules than a laptop. You can also use an online RAM finder to find the RAM for your computer. There will be a link for one in the resources section. Shop around for the cheapest RAM that you can find, and purchase it.

Remove the case. This will be a slightly different process depending on the model of your Acer computer and whether it is a desktop or laptop. The majority of Acer desktops simply require you to initiate a latch and slide of one side panel of the case. The majority of Acer laptops require you to unscrew a small piece from the bottom of the laptop that covers the RAM slots. If you cannot figure out how to remove the case, consult the user manual that came with your Acer computer.

Remove the old RAM and locate the RAM modules. They are very easily identifiable, as they will look exactly like the new RAM modules that you will be replacing them with. To remove desktop RAM, you will need to flip a lever on each side of the RAM module and pull the module straight out. This may require some force. To remove laptop RAM, you will also need to flip a lever on each side of the RAM module. However, the RAM should easily slide out.

5
Insert the new RAM modules and reassemble the case. Insert the new replacement RAM in the RAM dims. Make sure that you align the RAM module properly, the same way the old RAM came out, before applying any force. Push the RAM modules in until they snap. This may require a small amount of force. Reassemble the case.
