How to Upload Files to Kindle

Loading files onto your Kindle is as simple as attaching your USB cable, or sending an email to your personal Kindle email address. Email file loading costs 15 cents per megabyte, but loading the files via USB is quick, simple, and free.

    • Amazon Kindle 2, International or DX
    • Kindle USB cord
    • Computer or laptop
    1. USB Loading

      • 1

        Attach the large end of your Kindle USB plug to a desktop or laptop computer USB port.

        Attach the small end of your Kindle USB cord to the Kindle device.

        If an autoplay window appears on your computer with a list of options, click "Open folder to view files" under the General options section. Otherwise, open the My Computer area then click to open the Kindle drive.

        Drag and drop files from your computer hard drive or desktop into the Kindle documents folder.

        When you're finished, undock or disconnect the Kindle using the computer's Safely Remove Hardware or undock feature.

        Unplug the USB cable from your computer and the Kindle.
