How to Uninstall Windows XP With Fdisk
Use the fdisk utility to format the hard drive of your computer, create partitions on your hard drive and remove unwanted operating systems that are currently installed. The fdisk utility allows you to prepare the hard drive of your computer for a clean installation of your operating system. Before using the fdisk utility in Windows XP, take caution of the warnings associated with formatting your hard drive.

Insert the Windows XP installation disk into your computer and restart. If prompted, select the option to boot from the CD.

Follow the onscreen directions until you are prompted to repair the copy of Windows XP that is already installed on your computer. Press the "Esc" key to bypass the repair function.

On the screen that displays the active partitions and operating systems installed on your computer, use the arrow key to select the partition containing the Windows XP operating system that you wish to uninstall.

Press the "D" key to delete the selected partition containing the Windows XP version you wish to uninstall, then press "L" to confirm that you want to delete the partition.

Create a new partition on the available disk space by pressing "C." Allocate the size of the partition and press "Enter."

Create additional partitions on your hard drive by repeating step five until all partitions have been created.

Format the partitions and reinstall Windows XP by following the onscreen instructions.

Tips & Warnings
By deleting the partition that contains the installation of Windows XP, you will erase all of the data stored on the hard drive. Before using the fdisk utility to uninstall Windows XP, it is critical to back up all of the data that is saved on your computer. Once the partition of the hard disk has been deleted, the data cannot be restored.
