How to Make My Cell Phone a Restricted Number on Incoming Phones

Making your phone number a restricted phone number will keep anyone receiving your calls from being able to read your telephone number. You can make your home phone number a restricted number by contacting your phone company. Your wireless company, however, will not block your phone number on incoming calls. Fortunately, a cell phone owner can make her number restricted simply by entering a few keystrokes before the phone number she is calling.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn your cell phone on if the device is already not powered up.

    • 2

      Press the "Star" (*) key.

    • 3

Type in the number "67" directly after the star icon. There should be no delay between the keystrokes (*67).

    • 4

Enter the phone number you wish to call directly after entering "*67." Just as with Step 3, there should be no delay between the "*67" and phone number (for example, *675558675309).

    • 5

Press the "Send" or "Dial" button on the cell phone to send the call. The call will come up as a restricted number on the recipient's caller ID.

Tips & Warnings

  • Cell phone numbers cannot be blocked on all calls, such as calls made to emergency services (911) or calls made to 800 or 900 numbers.
