How to Package Raffle Tickets

A raffle can be successful fundraiser for an organization of any size. You can package and sell tickets for a raffle after you have acquired the necessary state or county lottery permit. Once the permit is obtained, tickets can be created with a home computer or can be ordered at a local print shop. If your organization is offering a high-quality prize with tickets at a relatively expensive price point, raffle tickets will look more professional if packaged in booklet form with a cover.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut out the raffle tickets you have printed with a paper cutter. Stack six tickets for one packet. Charge a set price for one ticket or consider offering supporters a six-ticket pack for the price of five individual tickets.

    • 2

Cut out the cover sheets for your ticket booklets. These should be the same size of the tickets, but may be printed on slightly heavier stock. Layer a cover on each stack of tickets.

    • 3

Staple the center left edge of the raffle tickets to form the pack. Be sure you have perforated the ticket with the ticket number and related raffle information on the right side of the line and the number along with the purchaser's contact information on the left. This allows the purchaser to easily tear off the right side and take it with them after filling in their information on the left side. Have ticket sellers put the contact information from all the tickets and booklets sold in an envelope with the funds they collect.

    • 4

Package bundles of raffle tickets for sellers. Tear off a piece of plastic wrap and place it on a clean flat surface. Place a stack of five to 10 packs of raffle tickets face down on the plastic.

    • 5

Wrap the plastic up over the ticket stack and tape it securely. If the tickets are numbered in sequence place a sticker on the pack with the numbers on it. For example the sticker may read: "1--60. Pack 1."

    • 6

Record the ticket-pack numbers and the person who takes responsibility for them until the raffle takes place. All unsold tickets, stubs of sold tickets and money collected should be brought to the raffle coordinator prior to the drawing.

Tips & Warnings

  • Perforate tickets by running them through an unthreaded sewing machine, or using a paper-perforating tool available from scrapbooking suppliers.

  • Follow the laws for a raffle in your state, county and municipality for a successful fundraiser.
