How to Scare Kids in a Tent
Children are rather easy to scare because most of them are gullible. The main goal of scaring someone is achieving the ultimate scare---meaning that the people being scared scream and run away, totally believing for a moment that they had seen a ghost or monster. While the ultimate goal is to scare other people, another factor in the process is to have fun doing it. When the adrenaline dies down, the event will become memorable and funny. It will be a silly story to tell in the future for everyone involved.

1
Read the children a scary story before having them go to sleep in the tent. Pick a story that is age appropriate for the children and make sure to make dramatic use of flashlights or campfires to illuminate your face in a frightening way as you tell your tale. Jump at the scary parts to make the children flinch. You may want a helper to scare the children from behind by jumping out from the woods and snarling, screaming or reaching toward the children.

2
Wait until the children are asleep and use a flashlight to make scary shapes on the tent walls. Use exaggerated movements and slow steps and moan lightly in the fashion of a zombie or the undead. Make sure to make a lot of noise in the woods by running into bushes and stepping on branches to snap them.

3
Dress up as a character from a scary story you told them. Put on a mask if you have one to make the illusion scarier. For example, if you told them a story about a headless man, hide your head in your coat when you wear it. If you told them a story about a scary troll, find a scary face mask with deformed features. Make the character from the scary story come alive.

4
Unzip the tent flap and stick your head inside and yell or scream. This will be the ultimate scare tactic, especially if you have a mask on. Make sure to let some time lapse between the time you tell a scary story and do this tactic. The longer the children are up, the more noises they will hear and this will build up fear in the children. Then you can go for the ultimate scare.
