Instructions

  1. Brushing, Combing and Straightening

    • 1

To comb or brush a costume wig, always be gentle. Start at the bottom as you would a doll or a small child. Work your way up to the roots, being cautious with the fragile hair. Always comb or brush hair before styling.

    • 2

Straightening a wig is fairly simple. Always place your wig on a mannequin head or something similar so that it is secure enough not to move. This is an important step in any styling process.

    • 3

Spray the hair with a mousse or styling spray made for wigs and comb the hair while blow-drying on lowest setting until straight. If you do not have spray, you can use small amounts of water.

    Curly or Wavy Styles

    • 4

To make hair curly or wavy, spray the hair and place it in small sections in low heated hair rollers in the same pattern and direction you would on a typical head of hair.

    • 5

If you have hair rollers that are not heated, use a hair dryer on its lowest setting. Medium or large rollers will make wavy hair. Small rollers will make curly hair.

    • 6

Allow the hair to cool completely before removing the curlers and comb the curls or waves loosely once removing. If you prefer, you can apply a light coat of hairspray to help hold the style, as long as the hairspray is alcohol free.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can style the entire wig or sections of the wig using the hot rollers.

  • Spray-on conditioners intended for wigs can extend the life of your wigs.

  • Be cautious not to stretch, tear or break the wig's hair--it's fragile.

  • Do not use alcohol products on wigs.

  • Do not use a curling iron on a wig--the heat is too hot.
