How to Remove Tar From Chrome Bumper
Tar, like dirt, is hard on your vehicle. It seems to appear on your vehicle's chrome bumper, undercarriage and wheels overnight. The tar may be from driving over recent tar roadwork or fragments of tar falling from a roof project. Removing tar from your vehicle's chrome bumper is a challenge. Regular car wash chemicals can't cut through the substance. You need a cleaner that is geared toward removing tar.

- Bucket
- Warm water
- Rubber gloves
- 2 clean rags or shop towels
- Tar remover cleaner -- spray can
- Scrub pad (Brillo)
- Chrome polish

Fill a bucket with ½ gallon of warm water. Wear rubber gloves to keep your hands from getting wet.

Dip a clean rag or shop towel into the bucket of warm water. Wring out excess water.

Wipe the chrome bumper with the damp rag or shop towel to remove any loose dust and dirt.

Spray the tar spot with a tar remover cleaner.

Let the tar remover cleaner sit on the spot for the recommended time on the can's label.

Scrub the tar spot gently with a scrub pad (Brillo). Apply another spray of tar remover cleaner if the tar is thick. Continue scrubbing the tar spot until it is gone.

Wipe the area where the tar spot was with a damp rag or towel to remove any cleaner residue.

Repeat steps 4 through 7 to remove other tar spots from your vehicle's chrome bumper.

Apply a tablespoon of chrome polish to a dry rag or towel. Wipe the chrome bumper with the chrome polish-soaked rag or towel.
