- Nail clipper or trimmer
- Nail file
- Nail whitening pen
- Clear nail polish

Wash and clean your hands with warm water and soap. Be sure to gently scrub the nail with your hands or a nail brush to get rid of all the dirt and grime that can get under the nail or on the nail bed.

Dry your hands and nails thoroughly.

Use a nail trimmer or clipper to remove any hangnails and to give the nails a clean and easy shape. Use a nail file to help shape the nail into the desired shape: round, square or triangular.

Use the nail whitening pen to fill in the area under the nail. You can also draw in the white area on top of your nail for added effect. Another alternative is to apply the nail whitening pen to the top of your entire nail. This will give your nails a white and bright look that is especially desirable.

Apply a top coat of clear nail polish. Be sure to skim the area under the nail with the polish as well. This is necessary to keep the nail coloring in place.
