How to Stop People From Stealing Food From the Office Refrigerator
Having your lunch stolen at work can be frustrating and costly since you'll need to purchase a new lunch to replace the one stolen. This is a common problem at many workplaces and difficult to combat since it involves changing another adult's behavior. However, there are a number of tactics you might employ to keep your lunch safe from the workplace lunch thief.

Pack your lunch in a sealed container and put it in a lunchbox or lunch bag before placing it in the office refrigerator. If people can't see what's in your container because it's in a lunch bag they will be less likely to steal it.

Write your name and date on your lunch bag if you use a paper lunch bag. This can discourage someone from stealing your lunch because she will know who it belongs to.

Place your lunch bag near the back of the refrigerator or in one of the lower drawers even if it means moving other lunches out of the way. If someone needs to spend a lot of time digging through the refrigerator to find your lunch he may not steal from it for fear of being caught.

Post signs on the refrigerator reminding people not to eat what does not belong to them. Instituting office policies with consequences may discourage someone from stealing lunches.

Purchase a locking box if stealing lunches becomes a persistent problem. Although there don't seem to be many lunchboxes that come with locks, you can use small locking boxes designed for valuables, small tackle boxes, art-supply boxes and cash boxes, or you could wrap a light-weight cable lock around an ordinary lunch box to prevent it from being opened.

Expose the thief by leaving a note on the refrigerator or sending an email to all your co-workers (if your company culture allows this) explaining exactly what was stolen. This tactic may embarrass the culprit enough to stop him from stealing.
