How to Scan a Document Original Size

Document scanning takes paperwork into the digital domain. Offices with filing cabinets crammed with paperwork are becoming an anachronism, especially with the emphasis on sustainable green living and recycling. A scanned piece of paper can be stored on a computer hard drive, on an external memory drive, portable memory sticks or on a media disc for easy, compact storage. Scanning a document at original size can be accomplished with a few mouse clicks.

Things You'll Need

• Computer connected to a digital scanner
• Documents and printed materials for scanning

Instructions

1. Open the scanning software installed on the computer by clicking the "Start" button in the lower left-hand corner, choosing "All Programs" and double-clicking on the name of the scanner.

2. Place a document facedown on the scanner and close the cover.

3. Click "File" and choose "New" or "New Scan."

4. Click "Image" and enter "Full Size" or "100 percent," depending on the scanner model, in the size selector box.

5. Press the "Scan" button on the front of the scanner or click the button on-screen to begin scanning the document.
