Instructions

    • 1

Open the beer the night before and leave it out to reach room temperature and release most of its carbonation.

    • 2

Pour the stale beer into a mixing bowl and add approximately a third of the Epsom salt.

    • 3

Stir the mixture together with a spoon and slowly sprinkle the remaining Epsom salt until no more will mix in. Add a few drops of food coloring at this point if you do not want your salt frost to appear clear.

    • 4

Apply the beer and Epsom salt paint to the outside of glass windows in any pattern desired using a small sponge. Get a realistic frosted look by glazing the base of the window along the sill with slightly higher corners.

    • 5

Use a paintbrush to add a holiday message or give the look precise finishing touches.

Tips & Warnings

  • Try glazing over and removing stencils to give all the windows a uniform look.

  • Glazing on the outside leads to easier cleanup with a garden hose, but it may also leave your Epsom salt crystals exposed to rain that can wash them away.
