How to Change a Liftmaster Code

Liftmaster garage door openers use a control pad on the inside of the garage, a remote control or a keyless entry code to operate the door. The keyless entry code is a four-digit password used to open and close the door. The code should only be given to people authorized to open the door. If you think the code has been compromised, change the code to a different four-digit password. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Enter the current keyless access code by pressing the corresponding numbers on the keypad.

    • 2

Press and hold the "#" button until the safety light on the motor control unit blinks twice.

    • 3

Create a new access code by pressing four buttons on the keypad then the "Enter" button. The code can not be fewer or more than four numbers.

    • 4

Test the new code by entering it with the keypad. If the door does not operate, repeat Steps 1 through 3.
