How to Use the Hummingbird Depth Finder

Save

Hummingbird markets a line of depth sounders for marine use that use sonar to determine the depth of the water beneath the boat's transducer. The transducer is mounted on the boat below the water line. The transmitter in the sonar unit emits a electrical signal that is converted to a sound wave. The sound wave bounces off the bottom and is received by the transducer. The transducer then interprets the reflected signal and sends a readout to the display to indicate the depth of the water. The Hummingbird depth finder features alarms for both shallow and deep water, which can be set by pressing button sequences on the face of the unit.

  • Boat with a properly installed Hummingbird depth sounder

Basic Operation

  • Turn on the boat's ignition to start the depth finder.
