1
Decide on an interesting campaign slogan so you can use the slogan when you are making your child's buttons. Create a short and catchy phrase that the other children will understand. Perhaps you could use a rhyme such as "Vote for Bob, he'll do the job" to help other children remember the slogan. Avoid slogans that are politically incorrect or ones that may be frowned upon by the school administration.

Create your own campaign buttons for a nominal cost by using items from craft store. Use a template to cut stars out of cardboard and then finish them with silver spray paint. Or paint the stars blue and use red and white stickers to give the stars a flag effect. Print your campaign slogan or "Sam for President" in black on the stars and glue pin backings available at craft stores onto the backs of the stars.

Consider using photo buttons when creating campaign buttons for your child. Photo buttons are creative and fun and you can put text on the bottom of the pictures to get your message across. Simply find a relevant digital photo of your child. Using Photoshop or PowerPoint, add text to the bottom of the photo that says "Vote for Susie" or a similar message. Print several copies of the photo on a color printer, cut to size, insert into button holders and viola - a creative, interesting campaign button perfect for an elementary school campaign.

Use interesting and memorable enhancements when creating your child's campaign button. Perhaps you could use a picture of Uncle Sam from the internet. Using photo enhancing software like Photoshop, replace your child's face, taken from a digital photo, with Sam's. Add text to the bottom that says "I want YOU to vote for me".

5
Find jazzy fonts on the internet when creating campaign buttons. Use 3D fonts to really make the text stand out. Elementary school kids may get a kick out of cartoon fonts, game fonts or even specific Nickelodeon fonts.

Create some brightly colored backgrounds for your buttons using templates you can download from the internet. Or you can find a wealth of specialty paper at craft stores that you can use for your buttons. Use paper with flag backgrounds or ones with donkeys and elephants to stay within the election theme. Use PowerPoint or Microsoft Word to create your text, load your paper into the printer and your text will print on the specialty paper. Cut to size and insert into your button background.
