How to Write a Code of Student Conduct

In order to write a student code of conduct, a school must be clear on its values, priorities and how the school wants to be known. These simple steps will help you create a student code of conduct that will pass the board, parents and perhaps the students.

1. Write down the objective of the code of conduct. You must know what type of student you are trying to train. The code of conduct will be different depending on the institution, population served and objectives of the school.

2. Write down the list of the items that need to be included in the student code of conduct. For example, it can include items as varied as attendance, fighting and grades.

3. Place the items in order of inclusion in the student code of conduct. It usually helps if it is alphabetized for ease of indexing.

4. Edit the code of conduct for redundancy, spelling or items that are unclear.

5. Input the handbook in the computer program of your choice.

6. Publish the handbook in-house or through a print shop.
