How to Find a Friend by Their Gamertag Name

Before singing into Xbox Live it is necessary to create a gamertag. A gamertag is simply the user name and identity of a player. Gamertags make it possible to meet people and join in on Xbox Live games as well. With gamertags one can send messages and even record voice mail if a microphone is equipped. Build up a community and make new friends by searching for gamertags.

Instructions

Add the Gamertag to Xbox Live

1. Turn on your Xbox console with no disc in the tray and log into Xbox Live.

2. Go to the dashboard and click on "Friends."

3. Click "Add Friend" and enter the gamertag. You will be notified the next time your friend signs on.

Join a Social Networking Site

1. One site in particular is called Gamertag and is the first ever Xbox Live community. Click "Join Us" on the upper right hand side of the screen.

2. Enter your gamertag and user information then click "Submit."

3. Click "Browse" on the top toolbar and then enter a friend's gamertag into the search bar. This will bring up a list of results associated with the gamertag.

Download the Gamertags Facebook Application

1. Log into Facebook or click "Sign Up" if you do not have an account.

2. Type "Gamertags" into the search bar. Select "View Application" next to the Gamertags profile.

3. Click "Go to Application" and then "Allow" to download. Click the "Gamerwall" to view forums and discussions where people post their gamertag.

Bungie People Finder for Halo

1. Go to the Bungie People Finder. Bungie is a software developer responsible for the Halo franchise.

2. Type the gamertag into the search bar and select Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 2 Clans, or Bungie profile.

3. Click "Search" to bring up a list of results.

Tips & Warnings

• The Bungie People Finder only includes gamertags for Halo 2 and Halo 3.
