How to Refinish a Headlight Lens

Over time, plastic headlight lenses on your vehicle will become cloudy from wear and tear, scratches or discoloration. The lenses cover the headlight bulb; when the lenses are hazy, the headlights cannot shine as brightly on the road at night. Cloudy lenses are also unappealing to the eye. With a professional headlight lens cleaner, you can easily refinish your lenses to their original clarity in under five minutes.

Things You'll Need

  • Standard drill with buffer attachment
  • Headlight lens cleaner
  • Microfiber cloth

Instructions

    • 1

Lock the buffer attachment onto your standard drill. This buffer is small enough to use on a headlight lens, whereas a regular car wax buffer is too large.

    • 2

Squeeze a small amount of headlight lens cleaner onto the buffer pad. You can use any brand of lens cleaner, such as Meguiar's.

    • 3

Place the buffer pad on the headlight lens, and turn on the drill. Using small circular motions, buff the cleaner into every part of the lens. You should spend at least 30 seconds to one minute buffing each lens.

    • 4

Wipe off the cleaner with a microfiber cloth.
