How to Exercise With a Chest Cold
Although most people use just about any excuse to avoid engaging in regular training, having a chest cold doesn't mean that you necessarily have to skip your regularly scheduled exercise session. A chest cold might necessitate the alteration of some of your workout plan, but it should not keep you from exercising altogether.

1
Avoid any high-intensity activities while you are sick with a chest cold. According to Bodybuilding.com, you should stick to low and moderate intensity exercise while ill, as high intensity training might result in an exacerbation of your condition. Thus, avoid heavy lifting, sprinting, running, and any other type of ultra-intense activity.

2
Perform easier exercises until you are feeling better. This might mean relegating yourself to nothing more than brisk walking (or light jogging if you really feel up to it). If you are into resistance training, consider avoiding the harder movements such as squats, bench pressing, and deadlifting until your symptoms abate. Stick to lighter workouts and more isolation exercises like curls, extensions, and the like to help keep your blood flowing without making yourself more ill.

Adjust your workout to avoid infecting other people if you are contagious. This might mean performing your workout outdoors (weather permitting), or it might mean waiting to use the gym until off-peak hours to avoid coming into contact with an excessive number of people. Place yourself on self-imposed quarantine, using equipment that is far away from most people. Thoroughly wipe down all equipment that you use.
