How to Transfer Contacts From One BlackBerry to Another

If you've recently purchased a BlackBerry phone, you may want to transfer the data from your old phone to your new one. You can easily transfer applications, contacts and other information by using the Blackberry desktop software on your computer, giving you access to all of your old information on your new phone.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • BlackBerry desktop software
  • Mini-USB data transfer cable
  1. Step 1

    Download and install the BlackBerry desktop software to your computer. You can get this software for free from the Blackberry website under the "Software" tab.

  2. Step 2

    Connect your original phone to your computer with the mini-USB cable. Once your original phone is connected, launch the BlackBerry desktop software and wait for it to connect to your phone.

  3. Step 3

    Select the "Back Up" option from the desktop manager. You can choose whether you want to back up the entire device or only certain data. When the backup is complete, disconnect your device. Make sure to remember where you saved your back up file.

  4. Step 4

    Connect your BlackBerry to the computer with the USB cable. Launch the desktop manager application and choose "Restore." Select the backup file that you just made and "Restore" it to your new BlackBerry. Now you will have access to your applications and contacts on your new phone.
