How to Cure an Itchy Underarm
-
1
Go to your family practitioner or dermatologist to have your underarm looked at. Your itchiness may be the result of a rash that needs to be treated. A medical professional should be able to identify if you have a rash, a type of bacterial growth or a simple irritation. In addition to prescribing any necessary ointments or pills, he will likely recommend an appropriate anti-itch cream to ease your symptoms. Apply the cream as needed until the itchiness subsides.

2
Steer clear of using products such as deodorant and try not to shave your underarm until the itchiness subsides. Shaving could spread your rash or increase your underarm irritation and cause it to last longer. Additionally, using deodorant may cause further irritation to your skin

Consider any recent changes you may have made that could be causing your itchiness. Items to consider are laundry detergent, fabric softener, deodorant, lotion or a new type of razor. If you recently switched brands on any of these items, switch back to your original brand. There may be a component in these products that is causing your adverse reaction. If you have not changed any products, consider any changes in routine. For instance, if you joined a gym, your itchiness could be a result of waiting too long to shower after working up a sweat.

Change your razor often. Your razor may become rusty if left in a damp shower for too long. Dull razors that need to be pressed firmly against the skin and rusty razors can both cause irritation. Provide yourself with a reminder to change your razors every couple of weeks by marking it on your calendar.

Switch deodorant brands. From time to time we can develop allergies to products that previously caused no reaction. Consider a deodorant with natural ingredients that are less likely to cause irritation.
