Help To Get A JobTo get help to find a job or get retrained contact your local career center sponsored by the Department of Labor and Workforce. These career centers are filled with information on job programs and staff will help find one that best fits your needs. Government grant programs are organized through out the United states to help Senior Citizens who can and want to find a job. Scholarships for retraining is available, along with paid on the job opportunities. Many areas also have programs that pay Senior Citizens to Volunteer at non profit organizations.

Help to Pay for PrescriptionsTo find a list of companies that help senior citizens with the cost of prescription drugs go to www.phrma.org. Many pharmaceutical companies have programs aimed to help individuals who are not eligible for Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance afford much needed medication.

Low Income HousingTo find low income housing for seniors contact the local county Human Resources Department or Commission on Aging to get information about "Aging in Place" supportive services that may be available in your area. Most states offer senior companion services, home-sharing programs and "Safe at Home" modification programs for qualifying Seniors. The Department of Aging also will have a list of low income housing. Most housing units rent is based on a percentage of the applicants monthly income.

Food AssistanceTo find organizations that will deliver hot meals to Senior Citizens go to mealcall.org. Low income Senior Citizens may also sign up to receive food stamps at their local Family Services Department. Help can also be provided by visiting local food banks sponsored by the community or other national known charities such as the Salvation Army. The local Senior Citizen Center may also have a program available.

Transportation AssistanceTransportation can be a big problem for Senior Citizens that are not able to drive. Grant funded programs are set up to help senior citizens go to the store, attend therapeutic activities and go to the doctor. The best way to find such programs in the community is to inquire about such programs through the local office of the Division of Family Services.
