How to Make Your Own Gelatin Room Deodorizer

To keep your home smelling fresh and clean, you do not have to rely upon store-bought deodorizers. These pre-made products can be costly, in addition to often relying on artificial chemicals to be effective. With just a few simple ingredients, you can make a safe and effective room freshener.

Things You'll Need

• Water
• Gelatin
• Essential Oils
• Jars

Instructions

1. Add one-half cup of water to a saucepan and bring to a boil.

2. Add gelatin to the boiling water and whisk. The gelatin should dissolve.

3. Remove the pan from the heat source. Add the essential oil of your choice, about five drops along with an additional one-half cup of water. Whisk together.

4. Pour the mixture into clean jars, while it is still warm. Allow to set until it reaches a solid, usually an hour.

Tips & Warnings

• Food coloring can be added to the mixture along with the oils for a fun, colorful effect.

• Spruce up plain jars of dedorizer with dried flowers, cinnamon sticks, cloves, or berries added to the gelatin. These items should be added at the same time as the essential oil.

• The gelatin can be placed in the refrigerator to speed setting.
