How to Cure Diaphragm Hiccups
There's nothing more annoying that getting a case of the hiccups. The pesky half-burp, half-gasps occur when your diaphragm becomes irritated. This happens for several reasons. Sometimes hiccups begin when you eat or drink too quickly and other times it's the result of sudden excitement or nervousness. In the end, your diaphragm gets a little air pocket in it, and the hiccups are your body's way of getting rid of that pocket. Fortunately, there are a number of remedies for treating those uncomfortable hiccups.

Fill a cup with cold water, but no ice. Hold your breath and take two to three large gulps of the cold water while still holding your breath. This will force a bit of air through your throat and to your diaphragm, thus removing the trapped bubble.

Try coughing, but do so from the diaphragm instead of the chest. You can also try laughing or sneezing to get a similar effect.

Relax and take deep breaths from the diaphragm. Do so for five to 10 minutes or until the hiccups have gone away.

Ask someone to scare you. It may sound like a silly technique, but scaring the hiccups out of someone is arguably one the most popular solutions to hiccups, according to KidsHealth.org.

Get a spoonful of sugar and place it under your tongue. Slowly swallow the sugar until it is completely gone.
