How to Make Your Own Travel Tissue Holder
I was given a homemade travel tissue holder several years ago as a gift and I did not realize how valuable it was to me until I somehow misplaced it. Using a travel tissue holder means no longer having to dig crumpled tissues from the bottom of a purse and reassuring yourself or the inevitable tissue borrower that, yes, it is certainly new, just crumpled.
A travel tissue holder keeps the tissues intact and keeps them doubly protected by their original wrapping and a fabric cover. They are simple, quick and inexpensive to make. Whip up several to give as thoughtful gifts to friends and family.

1
Begin making your own travel tissue holder by cutting three pieces from the remnant fabric. Cut one piece of fabric measuring 6 inches long by 4 inches wide. This will be the bottom of the travel tissue holder.
-
2
Cut two pieces of fabric 6 inches long by 2 inches wide. Note these will make up the top of the travel tissue holder and will create a neat opening to remove the tissues.

3
Cut two 6-inch lengths of single fold bias tape. Use bias tape to cover raw edges of top pieces and secure in place with straight pins. Sew in a straight stitch on the sewing machine, close to outer edge of tape.
-
4
Place right sides of tops and bottom pieces of travel tissue holder together. Pin. Sew all four edges using a straight stitch in a ½-inch seam allowance.
-
5
Use pinking shears or a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine to finish raw edges. Cut corners diagonally close to stitching. Turn fabric right side out.
-
6
Make the corners crisp by taking the eraser edge of a pencil and gently pushing corners outward. Insert a new package of travel tissues into your own custom fabric travel tissue holder.
