Things You'll Need:
- Pine Sol
- Water
- Sponge
- Plastic tarp or drop cloth
- Painters tape
- Screwdriver
- Spray paint in acrylic enamel
-
Step 1
Wipe down the entire stand mixer with a sponge and an all purpose cleaner mixed into hot water. Paint won't adhere to small appliances that are coated with any sort of greasy residue.
Lay your plastic tarp or drop cloth in an area where nothing else will be compromised by your use of spray paint. Preferably this will be a well ventilated room. -
Step 2
Remove all parts and pieces of your stand mixer that you don't wish to have painted. Use a screwdriver and remove any screws that are present at the actual site where you'll be painting. It won't hurt the screw holes themselves to be sprayed, but if you want to retain the metal appearance of the screws you'll need to remove them at this point.
-
Step 3
Tape off any remaining portions of the stand mixer that you don't want covered with paint. For example, you may wish for the logo or brand name of the appliance to remain intact. Simply cut a piece of painters tape to snugly fit over the logo or name and securely fasten it in place.
-
Step 4
Shake the can of spray paint and stand back about two to three feet from your stand mixer. Spray in a back-and-forth motion that keeps the can constantly moving while covering all remaining surfaces of your stand mixer.
-
Step 5
Allow the paint to dry for about an hour. At this point you will repeat step 4; applying a second coat of paint to your stand mixer. Allow it to dry for several hours before carefully peeling off the painters tape and replacing any screws and/or accessories.
