How to Clean Clear Coated Rims

Cleaning your car can be a very relaxing experience that not only makes your car look better, but will help keep its finish for years. When cleaning wheels, pick a product that suits your style of rims. For example, chrome wheels should be cleaned with a chrome cleaner, and in the case of clear-coated wheels, use a cleaner designed for that style of wheel. Once you have the right products, cleaning the wheels becomes that much easier.

Things You'll Need

• Clear coat safe wheel cleaner
• Hose
• Water source
• Paper towels

Instructions

1. Park the car in a shaded area and allow it to cool for at least an hour. If you don't let the rims cool, you can get water spots.

2. Rinse off the wheels with water using the hose. Try to hose off most of the heavier grime with higher pressures.

3. Spray on the clear-coat wheel cleaner and allow it to work for about 30 seconds.

4. Rinse off the cleaner using the hose and water. Dry off the wheels using the paper towels.
