How to Measure a Woman's Body
A woman's body measurements are usually taken at the bust, waist and hips. Knowing your measurements is helpful when you can't try on clothes in person, such as when ordering by catalog or online. Also, clothing sizes vary by designer and manufacturer, so it's best to look at sizing charts to find your best fit. If you are starting a diet or fitness regimen, taking your measurements regularly can help you follow your weight loss and body changes.

1
Stand upright with shoulders back and arms relaxed. Keep your feet about six inches apart. For best results, only wear undergarments that fit properly when taking the measurements. Measuring over clothes could give you incorrect numbers.
-
2
Keep the tape measure parallel to the floor, and stretch it across your back and around the fullest part of the bust. Write down the measurement.
-
-
3
Bend to the side slightly until your waist creases. This is your natural waistline. Stand upright again and measure your natural waistline. Write down the measurement.
-
4
Pull the tape measure around the widest part of your hips, keeping the tape parallel to the floor. Write down the measurement.

5
Some clothing lines call for a thigh measurement. To measure your thigh, wrap the tape measure around the fullest part of one thigh and write down the measurement.
