How to Draw Room Sofas
This is an easy way to draw a basic sofa, as it might appear in a children's book illustration or a comic book. For more realistic results, try looking at the sofa in your living room as a reference. Don't feel chained to the dimensions given--they've been provided as suggestions only. Leave your ruler in its drawer.
Instructions

1
Draw the base of the sofa as a rectangle 2 inches long and 1/2-inch tall.
-
2
Draw the seat cushions by making a rectangle that rests on top of the rectangle you drew in step 1, so that the top of the rectangle drawn in step 1 shares its top edge with the bottom of the rectangle you're drawing now. This second rectangle will be 1/4- inch tall and 2 inches long.
-
-
3
Divide the rectangle you drew in step 2 in half by inserting a vertical line down the center.
-
4
Draw the arm rests of the sofa as a circle at each end of the rectangle you drew in step 2 (the seat cushions). There will be one on the left end of the rectangle and one on the right. These circles will be 3/8-inch in diameter--only slightly wider than the rectangle is high. Center the circles so that they overhang the top and the bottom of the rectangle equally.
-
5
Draw the surface that the arm rests sit on. This will be a rectangle beneath each circle you drew in step 4. The top of the rectangles will touch the bottom of the circles, and the bottom of the rectangles will reach to the floor. The rectangles will be 1/4-inch wide.
-
6
Draw the back cushions as a rectangle that is 1/2-inch tall and 2 inches wide, on top of the rectangle you drew in step 2 (which represented the seat cushions). The bottom of this rectangle will share the top side of the rectangle beneath it.
-
7
Divide the rectangle you drew in step 6 in half by drawing a vertical line drawn down the center.

Tips & Warnings
When you are done, round the corners of the sofa so that it looks less boxy and rigid.
