How to Make Favor Cones
Regardless of the theme or reason for your party, it's a nice gesture to send guests home with a favor. Favors needn't be expensive or elaborate and can be as simple as inexpensive candy. Add a homemade touch by crafting cones to hold the contents of your party favors. The cones are fairly simple to make and use items you may already have at home. Children can help, too, in creating a fun favor for guests. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Draw a template onto the paper using a pencil and ruler. You'll want to create a triangle, starting at one of the four corners of your sheet. Consider one of the sides of the paper one of the sides of your triangle. Instead of using the second side of the paper as the second side of the triangle, measure in toward the corner of the paper about an inch. Draw a straight line toward the center of the paper, extending approximately 8 inches.

2
Join the two lines (one being the side of the sheet of paper) together. You may do this as a straight line by measuring directly across with your ruler. You may also opt to arch the line that joins the two ends. Use the ruler as your guide, and slightly arch the line as you reach the center point between the two sides of the triangle.

3
Cut out your triangle with scissors, and save this one as your template. Mark and cut as many additional triangles as you'll need using this template.
-
4
Tightly roll the paper into a cylinder, beginning at the point of your triangle. Keep the bottom (the point) wrapped tighter than the top. The triangle will form a cone.
-
5
Seal the cone closed using craft glue, tape or a stapler. Embellish the cone using stickers, fabric scraps, bits of lace or extra pieces of ribbon.
Cut a strip of paper from the sheet used for your cone and affix it as a handle by attaching it onto two sides of the opening of the cone. Attach the handle with glue, tape or a stapler. You may opt to use ribbon for your handle if you prefer.
Allow the glue to dry for several hours if you have chosen to use glue.
Fill your favors with candy, nuts or trinkets for your guests to enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
You may line the cone with wax paper to prevent oils from seeping through the cone; this is especially helpful if you fill the cones with nuts.
