Heating pads were designed to warm various parts of a person's body to better manage pain. Heating pads can be used by trained physical therapists during a therapy session. They can also be used by individuals in a home setting. After using a heating pad a few times, the heating pad can become dirty and you'll need to clean it.
Things You'll Need
- Heating pad
- Washing machine
- Mild detergent
- Cold water
Remove the cover from the heating pad. Depending on the model you own, you may have to unsnap it, or it may just be Velcro.
Turn your washing machine on to small load. Set the water temperature to cold water.
Add a mild detergent to the water. The amount depends on the brand of detergent you use, but it should be for a small load of wash.
Add your heating pad cover to the washing machine along with a few other items of the same color. You can wash the heating pad cover by itself, but that would be a waste of the water.
Hang dry your heating pad cover. Then slip the cover back on the heating pad.
Tips & Warnings
- You can hand wash or spot clean your heating pad cover with some mild detergent, water, and a toothbrush.
- Do not use a dryer or the heating pad cover could shrink. This will cause it to no longer fit over the heating pad unit.
- Never wash the entire heating pad unit. This will ruin it.
