The Ronson butane lighter must be filled correctly or you will let air into the lighter and it will not work properly. You should use butane that is recommended by the manufacturer or the Ronson lighter inlet valve and the burner valve could become clogged. Wal-Mart and cigar shops carry the butane needed for Ronson products. Before you fill the lighter, you must prepare the lighter and use the correct method to fill the lighter.
Things You'll Need
- Micro flat tip screwdriver
Use the micro flat tip screwdriver to turn the screw on the bottom of the butane lighter the "-" position. On some Ronson lighters, this screw is in the same hole where you fill the lighter with butane.
Turn the lighter upside down.
Insert the butane tip into the inlet valve on the lighter. Hold the lighter and the butane upside down when filling or you will get air into the lighter causing it not to work correctly.
Press the butane valve down on the inlet valve and hold for 5 seconds. Repeat this step once more and the lighter will be filled.
Light the lighter and adjust the flame, which will be higher than what you need after filling.
Tips & Warnings
- Always hold the lighter away from the face before lighting after it is freshly filled with butane.
