How to Empty a Mailbox

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of email providers on the Internet. Your main email messages go into your "Mailbox" also known as your "Inbox." These messages may be from close contacts or spam from junk mailers. It is a good idea to periodically empty your email box so you have more available space.

  • Navigate to the site where you have an email account (such as Gmail or Hotmail) and login to your account.

  • Click on the "Inbox" tab. Most email addresses take you directly to your email inbox, however you do need to select "Inbox" for some accounts (such as in Hotmail).

  • Select either the "All" box above the email messages or click the "All" button. This selects all of the messages on the current page of the inbox. Select all of the messages in your entire Gmail account by clicking "Select all conversations in Inbox."

  • Click the "Delete" button and in a moment, the messages are removed. If you are deleting a large number of messages, the process may take a few minutes.

  • Repeat the process for every additional page until your mailbox is empty.
