Mending a broken heart is very challenging and takes love and tenderness. It also takes a lot of patience. If the broken heart is your own it can be even tougher.

Things You'll Need:

  • Love
  • Patience
  • Time
  1. Step 1

The first step to helping a broken heart heal is to take it seriously. It is not some trivial thing whether it is a first love or a long term relationship. A broken heart hurts! It causes emotional and mental pain but it can also cause physical pain and stress. Don't try to stop the pain by ignoring it. You have to acknowledge that it is real and treat it with love and kindness.

  2. Step 2

The next thing to acknowledge is that it will take time to heal your broken heart. It can't be done overnight but you can learn to get past the pain one day at a time. Call a friend to talk. Go for walks to clear your head and the exercise will help your health and mental state.
Acknowledge the person that you have lost. Don't hastily throw out everything associated with this person. You may want to keep the memories after the pain has eased up. There is no set time limit for healing a broken heart. Take however long you need.

  3. Step 3

Last but certainly not least don't let friends or relatives push you into another relationship too soon. Your judgement is too cloudy. Give yourself the time required to heal or you will risk getting hurt again or hurting someone else.
