How to Make a Jewelry Box at Home

- Plain box that you can convert into a jewelry box; pre-made jewelry compartments/trays; Small mirrors; Paints; Brushes; Felt lining; Colored paper; Glitter glue; Stickers; Scissors; Glue.

Depending on the number of jewelry pieces that you have, decide on the size of the jewelry box that you need.

If you want a small jewelry box, you can go for one that is made out of cardboard, fiberboard or even glass. If you need a large jewelry box, it's good to use a wooden or metal box. The idea is, smaller boxes don't need to hold too much weight, whereas, large jewelry boxes need to be strong and durable.

Now that you have decided on the material and size of your jewelry box, you need to get hold of one. Look around at home and in the garage to see if you have what you need. If not, you could always buy one at a craft shop. Some simple boxes that can be used are- shoe boxes, hat boxes, cookie tins etc.

The first thing that you need to do is, stick felt fabric to the inner surface of the box.

Glue small mirrors to the lid of the box. Give sufficient time for the glue to dry, so that the mirrors don't fall off.

To finish the interior of the jewelry box, insert pre-made jewelry compartments/trays. You can choose the type and number of trays, depending on the number of jewelry pieces that you have.

You can either paint the outer surface of the jewelry box, or glue colored paper. In either case, allow it to dry. With this, you can soon be able to store gold jewelry, rings of diamond, gold, silver, or any other fashion jewelry.

Once this is done, all you need to do is decorate the box. While decorating the jewelry box, you can consider the decor of the room too. If it's a child's room, you can make use of stickers and glitter glue. If it's a teen's/adult's room, you can paint beautiful designs on the jewelry box.
