How to Calibrate a Touch Screen

Tablet PCs, Windows Mobile or Pocket PC devices are all wonderful tools, noted for their ability to allow quick note-taking on the go, thanks to their touch screens. If your device's touch screen is not responding as accurately as it used to, run a calibration operation to restore its responsiveness.

Instructions

  1. Windows Tablet PC

      Click "Start" on the Windows desktop. You may wish to do this with the stylus and with the PC converted into tablet mode for easier calibration.

      Click "Control Panel." Double click "Tablet PC Settings."

      Click "Reset" in the Tablet PC Settings window to reset the existing calibration data.

      Click "Calibrate" to begin the calibration process. Tap the areas of the screen specified by the calibration utility; your screen will be calibrated.

    Windows Mobile Device

      Tap the "Start" button on your Windows Mobile or Pocket PC device to access the screen calibration function.

      Tap Settings > System > Screen.

      Tap "Align Screen" to begin calibration. Tap the screen as directed by the utility; the screen will be calibrated.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some Tablet PCs ship with their own calibration utility, provided by the computer manufacturer, rather than the built-in Windows utility. If your Tablet PC does not have the Windows calibration utility, some features and menu options may differ slightly.
