How to Snowmobile in the Pocono Mountains
Within Pennsylvania's state forests, the Department of Natural Resources offers trails for use with snowmobiles from the end of rifle deer season until April 1, weather permitting. Hickory Run State Park hosts 21 miles of snowmobile trails, and Lehigh Gorge and Promised Land State Parks also offer trails for registered snowmobiles.

Bring your registered snowmobile and enjoy using the state park trails at your leisure. You'll need to have your license and registration with you. Wear appropriate headgear and protective goggles for safety. Check in at the state park office when you arrive, and pay any day-pass users fees. Get a trail map for that park and stay on the snowmobile-designated paths as cross-country skiers and other winter sports enthusiasts will also be using designated areas within the state parks.

Because the Pocono Mountains offer such diversity for snow sports, many of the area lodges will rent equipment for guest use. Ask before you make your reservations whether the lodge rents equipment.

Choose a place to stay, then work with snowmobile outfitters in the area to arrange such as Destination Pocono or Pocono Snowmobile Rentals offer half-hour and hour tours as well as night tours with advance reservations. Check age requirements for drivers and riders.
