Step 1
Gain some brief knowledge of how Twitter works. Twitter has been around for a long time and is used by millions of internet users. Many online marketers use Twitter to help update their online status. Twitter has it down falls and its benefits. Twitter users are allowed to communicate with other online people. Being able to submit a website link on twitter has really made the twitter site expand.

Step 2
Open an account at Twitter. Many online people open accounts at twitter without knowing exactly how the site works. If you want to grab the attention of potential customers, an account at twitter is recommended. You do need to know that you are not suppose to spam your followers. They want to know that you are a real person. Just like you wanting to communicate with your followers. You want to know that they are real people typing "What are you doing" results. Unfortunately, people set their accounts on auto pilot. This means that their accounts send out tweets even when they are not online.
-
Step 3
Gain a friendship with your twitter followers. Get to know the people that are following you and those that you are following. Many people tend to just follow unknown users just because you can. Many users are desperate to get many followers at twitter. There is a reason behind this, you can make money off of your tweets or posts. There are many online places to get paid for your tweets. You do want to gain a friendship with others to see who is real and who are on auto pilot.

Step 4
Send out a direct message or post a tweet to followers. Sending out a message directly to a twitter follower, allows you to look for a response from them. If they tweet back to you right away, then they are probably not on auto pilot. If you do not receive a tweet back right away but it looks like they are tweeting, they are most likely on auto pilot or they are not paying attention to incoming messages.

on 11/5/2009 Good article. LOL I often miss messages but if people @ me I usually find them within a day or so. Often I am busy doing other twitter related things or sending out my posts which is auto so I guess you could call me a "semi-automatic" weapon. LOL
