How to Use Flatbed Credit Card Imprinters

When you set up shop at a craft fair or a flea market and want to accept credit cards, you will need a flatbed credit card imprinter that makes it easier than finding electricity and a phone line to run an online credit card scanner. Using the card imprinters takes only a few minutes longer than if you were to use a credit card scanner. You will have all the information you need to avoid any charge-backs that can occur without a professional copy of the credit card transaction.

Things You'll Need

• Charge slips
• Nameplate

Instructions

1. Place the nameplate in the imprinter at the top left corner (generally this is the position for all nameplates). The nameplate has your business name, address, city, state and phone number listed. Note: You get your personal nameplate when you order the imprinter.

2. Place the credit card in the bottom slot that looks like a square. The card goes in with the numbers facing upward with the numbers reading the right way from left to right.

3. Place the charge slip in the imprinter so that the writing is in the right direction facing you.

4. Hold the imprinter with one hand and use the other hand to glide the handle over the charge slip and card. Bring the handle all the way to the opposite side so that it copies the entire credit card. Move it back to the other side for the second swipe over the slip and card.

5. Remove the charge slip and the card from the imprinter.
