Aluminum cans can be obtained easily through various ways. If you consume soda or the occasional beer, instead of throwing the cans away, put them into a separate bag that you will take to the local aluminum recycling center that pays for aluminum when you collect enough. Also, if you throw party or are at a party with close friends where drinks are served, try to have all the bottles and cans separated and then take them in. If you have soda machines at your office or job; in the employee lounge, put up a sign that people can see that tells them to throw in their used up cans in a designated spot.

If there is construction being done by your house or in your community, the contractors throw away a lot of scrap metal that they don't use. If you know of one of these places, drive by in your vehicle and pick up some scrap metal that they were not planning on using and that they were going to throw away.

If you are serious about collecting a lot of scrap metal, put in an ad in the newspaper that you are willing to haul scrap metal for free, and then take the metal and sell it to a scrap metal recycling center. Some people have metal laying out in the alleys for their local garbage collectors to pick up, you can save the garbage collectors the hassle and pick it up yourself, and also make a nice profit.

Tips & Warnings
For additional exercise; go on a walk, and when you do, take a trash bag with you and whenever you see an aluminum can on the ground pick it up and put it inside the bag to add to your collection.
