Things You'll Need:
- Internet
- Website
- Keyword Tool
-
Step 1
Choose a niche based on the results from using a keyword tool. The most popular free keyword tool is the Google Adwords Keyword Tool. The most popular and effective keyword tool for sale is Micro Niche Finder Keyword Software (see resources). Most professional niche bloggers use Micro Niche Finder. When choosing your micro niche look for a keyword or phrase that gets fewer than 3000 unique searches per month. For example, let’s suppose that you’ve chosen “Giant Denim Frogs” (not a real example) as your micro niche. “Giant Denim Frogs” gets 2900 unique searches per month on Google, and has a “Cost per Click” (or CPC) of $3.90. CPC means that advertisers pay Google $3.90 every time someone clicks on their ad.
-
Step 2
Set up a blog with your keyword phrase in the domain name. This is important because having the search term in the domain name gives your niche blog more relevance with the search engines, and will help to get your blog a higher page rank on the search engine results pages. Your ultimate goal will be to get to one of the top three positions on the first page of results. A domain that you own, (www.giantdenimfrogs.com) will generally rank higher than a free blog (www.giantdenimfrogs.blogspot.com), but it’s possible to get to the number one position with a free blog, it just takes more work.
-
Step 3
Write at least ten articles about giant denim frogs on your blog. The reason for this is to improve your page rank in the search engines. Search engines reward relevant content, and the more relevant content you have on your niche blog, the more it will be seen as an “authority site” by the search engines.
-
Step 4
Monetize your blog. This can be done several ways. Google Adsense is a popular means of making money on a niche blog. Affiliate marketing is another way to earn money from your blog, as is private advertising and selling your own unique products. If you have a warehouse full of giant denim frogs, you may want to consider this last option. Whatever means of monetization you decide on, remember that your page rank is the most important element. More visits mean more chances of earning revenue from your blog.
-
Step 5
Get backlinks to your blog. Social networking sites are a popular way to get backlinks, but one of the most effective methods is known as “article marketing”. For every unique article you post on your blog, you should write at least two other articles with links to your original blog post. This will help with your page rank, and ultimately, your bottom line.
