      Design the layout!

The layout is the most important part of your web page. A bad looking layout will give people a head ache and drive them away from your page. Your goal here is to create a mixture of appealing colors and a comfortable, intuitive layout that is easy to navigate and appealing to the eyes.

Especially if you are trying to sell a product on your web page! If you want sales, you have GOT to keep the people at your page.

From my own experience, I find I get more traffic to my web pages if I use the color dark blue for the text and have it written on a white back drop. This seems to hold viewers attention the longest as those colors are appealing to look at to the sense. Another great tip to keeping the attention of your viewers is using pictures!

You'll notice in this article I have pictures all over the place and that has helped to hold your attention so far, hasn't it? The reason this works so well is because it keeps the reader interested in what you have to say that relates to each picture. If anyone just sees a gigantic wall of text and no pictures, they seem to be scared away.

You can get a bunch of FREE pictures from Google Images. Just be sure to provide credit to whoever the original authors of the photos are.

Now, positioning the images on your page is just as critical as the other layout design aspects. I recommend having pictures split up each different section of words. For example, any time the topic changes in your writing, have a new picture.

These subtle tips to your layout will make a HUGE difference on traffic.

How to Build a Web Page

Use search engine optimization to start bringing in the traffic! Once you have mastered HTML, designed your layout and compiled your web page, it is time to start bringing viewers from all over the web. After all, what good is a web page if no one is going to see it?

In order to get the MOST views, you want to learn how to Search Engine Optimization (or SEO). SEO is the technique of ranking YOUR web pages higher on the search engine results in Google, Yahoo, AOL and other popular search engines.

Doing SEO is much more simple than it might seem. All you have to do is "exchange back links". What are back links, you ask? Back links are links on your web page that point to other websites in the same category as your own. For example, if you have a Fitness website, you would want to put back links to other fitness websites in your "back links section". That's right. You should actually dedicate an entire page of your website to back links.

Now, don't just go adding back links to other websites without getting the same in return from the other webmasters, or you will be optimizing their website, but they won't be helping to optimize yours at all!

Instead, send the webmaster an email asking them if they want to exchange back links. Be sure to provide your name and website as well, so they can add it to their own back links section. Most of them will agree and you'll be good to go. Do this with as many similar category websites as possible and you'll find your web page on the FIRST page of search engine results in no time!

Congratulations! You know know how to build a web page and search engine optimize it! Feel free to bookmark this article so you can refer back to it at any time. Have fun!
