Tanning bed bulbs have a limited life, so at some point it will be necessary to change the bulbs in your Wolf tanning bed. Bulbs should be changed when approximately 80 percent of a bulb's expected life is used (after approximately 800 hours of use for most bulbs), and you should replace all bulbs at the same time to avoid uneven tanning.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • New tanning bulbs
  • Phillip's screwdriver
  1. Step 1

Note the model number of your particular Wolf tanning bed so that you can purchase the correct bulbs for your particular bed. Bulb sizes differ between different models.

  2. Step 2

Determine what strength bulbs you want to replace your current bulbs with. Bulbs can range in strength from 80 watts to 120 watts. If you were happy with the current strength of the bulbs in your bed, then it would be a good idea to replace them with the same strength bulb.

  3. Step 3

Purchase enough bulbs of the correct size and strength to replace every bulb in your bed. Bulbs may be purchased locally, or shop online for the best deal. (See Resources.)

  4. Step 4

Unplug your tanning bed. This is a safety precaution to prevent any possibility of electrical shock.

  5. Step 5

Remove the clear plastic cover that protects the bulbs. Use your Phillip's screwdriver to remove the screws holding the cover in place. Set everything aside carefully.

  6. Step 6

Hold one end of each bulb, push gently toward the far end of the bulb and carefully twist until the prongs come free. Carefully lift each bulb out. Remove all bulbs in this manner.

  7. Step 7

Insert the prongs on the new bulb into one end of the light socket, and then carefully twist the bulb slightly and push in on it until the prongs on the other end snap into place. Replace all the bulbs in this way.

  8. Step 8

Replace the clear plastic covering over the bulbs using your Phillip's screwdriver. Plug the bed in, and test the bulbs. All bulbs should light evenly.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use care when actually removing or re-inserting the bulbs into the sockets. Never force the bulbs. Use gentle pressure, twisting and pushing the bulbs into the sockets. Always use the correct size and wattage bulbs for your particular model of bed. Keep track of the number of hours the bulbs are used so you will know when to replace them (at approximately 1,000 for the average bulb).
