How to Remove PC Protection Center

PC Protection 2008 is a spyware program spread by the backdoor trojans that pose as video codecs during downloads from the web. Once this parasite is in your computer system it will display fake warning messages with scan results showing viruses in your computer. Then the spyware will try trick you into buying the PC Protection 2008 software. However, this is a scam and all of the messages are fake.

This spyware is also known as PCProtection2008 and can hijack your browser to the Winsecurityupdates.com website. General PC performance and speed of your computer also might be infected as the spyware uses system resources in the background.

Instructions

Stopping PC Protection Center System Processes

1. Press "Ctrl", "Alt", and "Delete" buttons at the same time and then click on "Task Manager" to launch the Windows Task Manager utility.

2. Click on the "Processes" tab and select the "PcProtection.exe", "uninstall.exe", "PcProtection.exe" and "MANIFEST xpa.exe" processes.

3. Click on "End Process" button in the Task Manager's window.

Deleting PC Protection Center Registry Keys

1. Click on the "Start" menu and then on "Run."

2. Type "regedit" in the command line and press "Enter" to activate the Registry Editor utility.

3. Find and delete the following registry entries associated with the PC Protection Center:

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\PC Protection Center 2008

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Antivirus Software

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run "PC Protection Center"

Unregistering PC Protection Center DLL Files

1. Click on the "Start" menu and select "Run."

2. Type "cmd" and hit "Enter" to bring up the command line screen.

3. Type "regsvr32/u vbzlib2.dll" and hit "Enter" to unregister the file.

Deleting PC Protection Center Files and Directories.

1. Go to the "Start" menu and click on the "Search" option.

2. You need to find all of the files associated with PC Protection Center spyware so check the box next to "All Files and Folders."

3. Type "PC Protection 2008" in the "Search" line and press "Enter." Delete all of the found files and folders.
