How to Mount a Steel Roll Pan

One of the more popular modifications for custom trucks are steel roll pans. It cleans up the outside of the truck, plus makes the rear end look a lot smoother. For this example, we'll install a Sir Michael's roll pan on a 1997 Chevrolet Silverado.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the rear bumper using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket set. There may be electrical harnesses that run to the bumper, so disconnect them at the harness with your hands, if necessary.

    • 2

Clamp the roll pan into place against the bed sides. You want the pan to sit flush with the sides.

    • 3

Measure the distance between the top of the rollpan with the bottom of the tailgate. Make sure it's the same distance, and adjust with the clamps, if necessary.

    • 4

Remove the tailgate by tilting it at a 45-degree angle from the bed and pulling it out passenger side first. Unclip the tailgate straps at the same time.

    • 5

Screw the top of the rollpan into the bed using the provided self-tapping screws and the drill.

    • 6

Screw the rollpan into the bedsides using the provided screws. Make sure that it's lined up completely before you set it in place.
