How to Install a Sony Car Stereo
Installing a Sony car stereo does require some basic mechanical and electronic skills. Anytime that you're doing anything involving electrical wiring, it's important to have a little knowledge prior to doing the job and be comfortable working with electric components. If you're not, it may be best if you have a professional wire your car stereo. Despite being a somewhat difficult task, installing a Sony car stereo can be accomplished using very few tools and materials.

Disconnect the ground (negative) cable from your battery.

Remove your old car stereo.

Connect each wire to the wiring harness, which acts as a single connect to all the wires in your car.

Slide the new Sony car stereo into the mounting bracket that came with the stereo.

Plug your car's harness connector into the back of the Sony stereo, leaving just the antenna from your old stereo. Plug this wire into the new Sony stereo.

Slide your new Sony car stereo into the appropriate slot. You need to test it before you screw it back in.

Reconnect the negative cable on your car battery.

Turn on your car and your new Sony stereo. Listen to make sure everything is working properly.

Screw your Sony stereo into place. Some Sony models may just click in place by pushing the deck into the car dash until you hear a click.

Tips & Warnings
If your new Sony stereo didn't come with a new mounting bracket, you can use the one from your old stereo. In step four, there may also be a power antenna wire that you will need to connect.
Never work on the electrical system of your car with the ground cable connected. As a safety precaution, you can disconnect your car's battery when working on your car stereo.
