Connect each wire to the wiring harness, which acts as a single connect to all the wires in your car.

    • 4

Slide the new Sony car stereo into the mounting bracket that came with the stereo.

    • 5

Plug your car's harness connector into the back of the Sony stereo, leaving just the antenna from your old stereo. Plug this wire into the new Sony stereo.

    • 6

Slide your new Sony car stereo into the appropriate slot. You need to test it before you screw it back in.

    • 7

Reconnect the negative cable on your car battery.

    • 8

Turn on your car and your new Sony stereo. Listen to make sure everything is working properly.

    • 9

Screw your Sony stereo into place. Some Sony models may just click in place by pushing the deck into the car dash until you hear a click.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your new Sony stereo didn't come with a new mounting bracket, you can use the one from your old stereo. In step four, there may also be a power antenna wire that you will need to connect.

  • Never work on the electrical system of your car with the ground cable connected. As a safety precaution, you can disconnect your car's battery when working on your car stereo.
