How to Download MP3 Files

MP3 files are audio files that are commonly used for music. You can use MP3s on your computer or on a portable device like an MP3 player, or sometimes on CD players that can handle MP3. You can download MP3s from a variety of different sites. Some of these are free, and with some you have to pay a fee to download the song.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Visit a website where you can download an MP3. An example is AirMp3 (see Resources).

  2. Step 2

    Type in the name of a song or artist into the appropriate box and click "Music Search."

  3. Step 3

    Choose one of the songs that comes up and right-click on it. Click "Save link As." A save window comes up.

  4. Step 4

    Type in a name for the file, and make sure to add ".mp3" to the end of the name if it doesn't already appear there. Click "Save." This downloads the file to your computer.

Tips & Warnings
  • Different sites may have have similar but different methods of downloading songs, such as simply a "Download Now" link.
  • It's important to be careful about what sort of song you download as downloading copyrighted material can be illegal.
